In August 2021, a new association was founded “Kinderrechte Jetzt e.V.” (Children’s Rights Now), which campaigns for the concerns and rights of children and young people and initiates numerous actions.
“The observation now made since the beginning of the pandemic that of the estimated 14 million children and young people in Germany, only about 1200 with a SARS-CoV-2 infection had to be treated in hospital (< 0.01%) and 4 died from their infection (< 0.00002%) should be reason to relieve parents of excessive worries about a severe course of the disease in their children.
In the 2018/19 season, according to the RKI, a total of 7461 children under the age of 14 were reported as hospitalised with influenza, and 9 children died. According to the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, the number of children killed in a road accident in 2019 was 55, and according to the DLRG, the number of drowned children was 25. These figures should not and must not in any way be set against each other, but may help to put them in perspective.” Source DGPI
